Description
The description of the family is identical to that given for the genus ‘Candidatus Magnetomorum’ by Wenter et al. (2009). Separation of the genus into a novel family is justified by its distinct phylogenetic position on concatenated protein and 16S rRNA gene trees within the order Desulfobacterales.
The type genus of the family is ‘Candidatus Magnetomorum’.
