The genus is established on the basis of Average Amino Acid Identity (AAI) and phylogenetic reconstruction using comparative genomics of the genus representatives and representatives of “Ca. Limnocylindrus”. A placeholder identifier has been assigned to this genus in GTDB as g__UBA10416. Heterotrophic aerobic bacteria with genomic capability for reductive dehalogenation but not sulfite oxidation. The type species is Aquidulcis frankliniae.
