AbstractThe aquatic symbiont “Candidatus Aquarickettsia rohweri” infects a diversity of non-bilaterian metazoan phyla. In the threatened coral Acropora cervicornis, Aquarickettsia proliferates in response to increased nutrient exposure, resulting in suppressed growth and increased disease susceptibility and mortality.
